The Urban Clothes Horse takes the reins of the South Bay’s fashion scene

If you’ve been yearning to break free from wearing flip-flops and a T-shirt each day, stylish South Bay duo Amy and Matt Wilkens have answered your wardrobe desires in the form of The Urban Clothes Horse. Their fairly new Catalina Avenue boutique for men and women is stocked with designer denim, high-end cowboy boots and other Western-tinged garb, from starched cowboy shirts and buttery soft leather jackets to embellished jewelry that’s heavy on the silver and turquoise. 

Balancing them out are racks of well-crafted, bohemian pieces, from sturdy leather sandals and flowing scarves to lightweight knits and pretty beach dresses by the likes of Free People. If the coming of fall is inspiring a creative shakeup in your personal style, a peek or two in this boutique might be in order.
