When developers first laid eyes on the parcel of land where they hoped to build a new luxury, mixed-use rental community, the downtown Santa Monica site was dotted with outdated fast-food joints and an antique mall. Parking also was difficult, as cars entering and leaving disrupted traffic flow.
From Tower Grove Drive, looking out from a wonderfully designed home whose precipice is a hillside in the southern Santa Monica Mountains, the view is truly grand—a sweep that extends dramatically past Los Angeles to the Pacific.
The five-bedroom, approximately 5,500-square-foot home was envisioned as an elegant beachfront haven for holidays and family gatherings by the northern California couple who commissioned it in the 2000s.
