Home tours and access to top designers are among the highlights of the Dwell on Design fair, landing in L.A. this spring

Dwell on Design showcases self-guided tours of high-end, modern-designed homes in L.A.’s Hollywood Hills and resort town areas. The best and newest in modern furnishings, lighting, accessories and technology; appearances by design influencers and icons; and an inside look at some of L.A.’s top-designed homes are just some of the attractions at Dwell on Design 2018—the largest modern design fair on the West Coast—set for April 5-7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

“The Dwell on Design experiences planned for the 2018 event are incredible,” says Amie Gilmore, the fair’s show director. “We’ve announced two of our featured speakers, with more exciting announcements to come. From sensory and shopping experiences to high-design brands and home tours, the team is planning another great event for 2018. As an architecture and design trade event that welcomes the design-loving consumer, Dwell on Design has strategically shifted the dates to be earlier in the year to benefit the trade audience for [the purpose of] specifying and buying products. Plus, this allows for the beauty of the springtime for the exclusive luxury Dwell on Design L.A. Home Tours!”

Included in the fair’s three days of curated programming for design and architecture professionals and enthusiasts are new and returning exhibitors, continuing-education classes, and featured speeches and book-signings by renowned designer Jonathan Adler; photographer Seph Lawless; Savannah College of Art and Design President and Founder Paula Wallace; designer Karim Rashid; and artist Janet Echelman.

Among the most-anticipated events is the self-guided tours of high-end, modern-designed homes throughout L.A., taking place April 7 and 8, with the purchase of a separate ticket. This year’s tours include a peek at residences in the East Side and the hillside neighborhood of the Hollywood Hills, as well as the resort towns of Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Mar Vista and Venice. Preceding these outings, architects of the homes’ on tour will preview the dwellings, offering attendees a glimpse of their design process, at Meet the Architects night at Pacific Design Center April 4.

Among this year’s other must-attend activities is personalized design advice via The Consultations, complimentary one-on-one meetings with professional architects and interior designers. New this year is Landscape Design Consultations, courtesy of Shrubhub, available throughout the day on April 5 and 7.

And there’s more—a Rooftop Party at Row DTLA will serve as the event’s opening night reception, complete with cocktails and light bites, April 5 at 7 p.m.; while an Exclusive VIP Dinner offers an intimate look inside the private Barrington Residence in Brentwood developed by Eric Rosen Architects.
