Tranquil Environs Meet Serene Views of the Sea of Cortez From This Modern Mexico Manse by Elyse Walker

When she isn’t busy selling stylish apparel to the likes of Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson, and Amber Valletta, Los Angeles-based designer Elyse Walker (who has boutiques in Pacific Palisades and Newport Beach) is likely spending time with her family and friends at her Mexico vacation home, complete with a stunning view of the Sea of Cortez and a tequila bar boasting more than 300 bottles.

Now, she’s ready to part ways with the home, placing it on the market with listing agents Bernardo Muciño Koenig and Janet Jensen of The Agency Los Cabos for $6.7 million.

Elyse Walker and her husband, brother, and father, in conjunction with Juan Zapata of Ogarrio Zapata Arquitectos, lovingly designed the contemporary home in memory of the family’s matriarch, Barbara Yvonne.

“Our family purchased this undeveloped, incredible piece of land 10 years ago,” says Elyse Walker.

“Casa Yvonne was a labor of love of our entire family…The family loves construction projects! Ten years later, with thousands of memories of dinner parties, photoshoots and celebrations, we are ready for our next family project.”

The ivory-colored Casa Yvonne was built in 2009, and offers more than 13,000 square feet of open, single-level living space boasting expansive ocean views framed between concrete white walls and espresso wood beams. As designed by Elyse Walker, the interiors showcase bespoke furnishings and Mexican art and textiles set prominently against a backdrop of dark wood furniture.

Additional highlights of the symmetrically designed home include a duo of master suites with luxurious spa bathrooms featuring double sinks, oversized soaking tubs, indoor-outdoor showers and balconies overlooking the sea; three additional guest suites, each with a private bath; and an office with three separate workstations that also doubles as a guest suite with loft-style bunk beds and a retractable window that opens onto a private garden. The 50-by-30-foot great room serves as the hub of Casa Yvonne, complete with a fully stocked tequila bar, pool table, linear fireplace, and glass pocket doors that open to a covered, alfresco dining area.

The outside living spaces are especially appealing. Think a dramatic 77-foot infinity pool with an elevated spa, along with an outdoor kitchen sporting a Viking grill, sink, and refrigerator. A rooftop observation deck offers built-in seating, a 10-foot-long fire pit, and views from East Cape to Palmilla Point, while a central courtyard featuring a large reflecting pool provides the ideal environment for sipping cocktails, reading, and relaxing.

“There isn’t anyone who doesn’t walk into Casa Yvonne and immediately start to shed the layers of their hectic work/family life,” says Koenig.

Adds Jensen, “It is a place of tranquility and relaxation. Meditation and reflection are inevitable. Laughter and community fill the house at all times of day.”

A designer retreat in every sense.
