A Killer YouTube Guide That Will Jump-Start Your Views

YouTube can be a powerful platform in the real estate business. It is an excellent way to drive traffic to your website and help those interested learn about the process of buying and selling real estate. Creating great content is the starting point, but how to share it with the world is where the majority of your efforts ought to be spent. We’ve created a short YouTube Guide to help jump-start these efforts in a few easy steps. Let’s get started.

How to Upload a Video to YouTube

  1. Create a YouTube account if you don’t already have one.
  1. Log in to your YouTube account.
  1. Click on the video icon at the top right-hand side of the window. This is found next to your user icon, messages, apps, and notifications.
  1. Click ‘Upload Video.’

  1. Then, press ‘select files to upload’ to find the video file saved on your computer. Or, you can drag and drop it into the window. The title of the video file you uploaded will become the title for the video on Youtube, which you may want to change.

Voila! Your video is now on YouTube!

Create Killer Titles, Descriptions & Tags

Creating you a nice title, description and tags takes a minute, but make all the difference in showing up in YouTube search. These 3 key parts are how your video will get discovered and watched. But where and how do you get started? Here’s an easy trick for better Youtube titles. Ask yourself this question, “How would I describe this video in a text when sharing it with a friend?”

Go ahead enter that for the title.

Of course, there are other tricks for coming up with keyword-based Youtube titles, like using the auto-suggest feature in Youtube search bar, but this is a great starting point.

A good chunk of your video’s views will come from YouTube search, and those views will come from your title. So, you’ll want to give your video the best chance at showing up in people’s feeds.

To officially finalize the posting process, you’ll need to fill out the following sections:

  1. Enter an attention-getting title.
  1. Add a description of the video so people get a clear idea of what your content is about before watching it. This is the place where you can have as many external links and do as much key wording as you like, so feel free to fill this section up.

  1. Add tags. Add as many tags as you can until YouTube says its maxed out! These are like tools to help the organic discovery of your video. But, what are tags anyways? Think of tags as short words and phrases that DESCRIBE your video, or nouns in other words. Enter people, places, or things.
  1. Share your video with the world!

Some good rules of thumb to think about Title / Description / Key-wording strategies:

  • A good title should be descriptive and interesting, perhaps ask yourself, “What would make me watch this?”
  • A good description will accurately describe the video. Next-level descriptions will add value by including timestamps to important sections in the video, back links to your website and social media accounts, and a short explanation about who you are and why they should care about you. Not irrelevant junk or keyword stuffing and link spam, but things that you think viewers of that video would enjoy.
  • Good keywords will be highly searchable, but relevant to the video. Think of the literal words said in the video, or what the video is about. Ideally, some of these appear in the title and description for extra synergy.

BONUS

End Screens, Cards, and Captions.

End screens

You can add an end screen to the last 5-20 seconds of your video. End screens give viewers a chance to click on another one of your videos before they move on.  They can also showcase elements like playlists, links, and subscribe buttons. YouTube even offers templates to make this process easier.

Cards

Cards can point viewers to a specific link (from a list of eligible sites) and show customized images, titles, and calls to action, depending on the card type.

Closed Captions

YouTube will automatically generate subtitles once the video is processed. Simply select the language, and then upload a file or transcribe all spoken parts of the video for it to be auto-synced. The more accurate, the mo better. But, keep in mind robot-generated transcriptions are 90% accurate give or take, so it’s always best-practice to edit these manually.
