The Beverly House

Two words come to mind upon first viewing this magnificent estate that once was home to newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst and actress Marion Davies: trophy property.

Well known for the memorable movies filmed there—including The Godfather and The Bodyguard—the home now is listed for $175 million by Mauricio Umansky of The Agency, with buyers having the chance to purchase the residence by itself or with an adjacent, separate, legal parcel and seven-bedroom home, both of which comprise The Beverly House Compound offered at $195 million.

Situated on about five acres of landscaped flat land in the heart of Beverly Hills—just three blocks from Sunset Boulevard and Beverly Hills Hotel—the Gordon Kaufmann-designed home features 19-plus bedrooms and suites; a massive pool; lighted tennis court; two projection/screening rooms; commercial-grade kitchen; terraces to accommodate 400 or more guests for a seated dinner; and grounds to host more than 1,000 people.

Other standout features include a stunning two-story library with hand-carved paneling and a wraparound walkway; a formal living room with its 22-foot-high, hand-painted arched ceiling; a state-of-the-art spa; a billiards room with herringbone parquet floors and an intricately designed ceiling and carved fireplace, both from Hearst Castle in San Simeon; and gardens designed by landscape architect Paul Thiene, including cascading waterfalls.

Together with the adjacent property, The Beverly House Compound includes more than 55,000 square feet and features more than 20 bedrooms, two pools and six separate structures.
