Westside Digs • May 1, 2015

For anyone with a passion for real estate, we believe there’s a mutual obsession for all things real estate-related like architecture, landscaping, community, culture, and, of course, interior design.

One of our favorite design events of the year takes place Wednesday through Friday, May 6-8, in West Hollywood’s La Cienega Design Quarter. This historical district is home to every aspect of the interior design industry—antiques, rugs, furniture, accessories, fixtures, wall coverings, and art. Not to mention being surrounded by some of the city’s finest restaurants, galleries, and shopping.

This year’s LCDQ Legends theme, “Where Muses Dwell,” will focus on the influences that inspire some of our favorite designers and artisans. And there is quite a roster of designers and artisans in this year’s lineup!

With an estimated 10,000 designers and design enthusiasts in attendance, this year’s event will feature 67 retail windows reimagined by the world’s top design talent to reflect the “Where Muses Dwell” theme. Noted interior design editors will lead eight keynote panels, with seven cocktail receptions woven in between trunk shows, book signings, open houses, and exhibitions. Many activities are free, but for a schedule of events and ticket information, visit LCDQLA.com.

In keeping with the design theme, this week’s issue of DIGS shines a light on Hutton Wilkinson, the long-time partner, collaborator, and curator of icon Tony Duquette’s “More is More” design legacy. In a design world recently run rampant with a minimalist aesthetic, Hutton is hailing an upcoming era of design maximalism. We can’t wait to see what Hutton (one of the featured speakers at next week’s LCDQ event) will do next.

In addition, this issue’s Sweet DIGS takes us inside a lavishly appointed Brentwood Park home with every modern amenity a 21st-century family could desire but lovingly ensconced inside a grand, old-world European setting. Simply breathtaking.

Finally, for lovers of all things related to art, culture, and creativity, check out “Desert in Bloom,” our suggestions for the perfect weekend getaway in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
