Candy Spelling, Tony Award-winning Producer is Selling Her Family’s Longtime Weekend and Summer Getaway in Malibu for $23 Million

Candy Spelling, Tony Award-winning producer and widow of famed TV producer Aaron Spelling, is selling her family’s longtime weekend and summer getaway in Malibu for $23 million.

Spanning approximately 81 feet of ocean frontage on La Costa Beach, the elegant residence offers seven bedrooms and seven baths in 8,000-plus square feet of recently renovated living space on two levels highlighted by beamed and coffered ceilings, custom cabinetry and exquisite stonework.

Not to mention some pretty stellar ocean views available right from the get-go via a dramatic two-story formal entry accessed via a landscaped courtyard.

“The home’s expansive beachfront terrace offers spectacular sunset views, and the spaces in the house are extraordinary,” says Linda May, estates director of Hilton & Hyland, who is co-listing the property with Chris Cortazzo of Compass and Joyce Rey of Coldwell Banker Global Luxury. “You can go from casual entertaining to watching a movie in the screening room—making life at the beach a special experience.”

Situated at 21536 Pacific Coast Highway, the traditional-style home’s entryway is flanked on one side by a living/dining great room and on the other by a family/media room.

The great room has a fireplace, limestone flooring, wraparound windows and sliding doors that open onto a full-width ocean-view deck, while the spacious family/media room features soaring wood-beamed ceilings, a projection screen, blackout curtains, a large entertainer’s wet bar, wood flooring and two sets of doors leading to the deck. An adjacent room holds state-of-the art professional projection equipment and media storage.

“It’s a beautiful home in an ideal location for soothing privacy and enchanting entertaining,” says Chris Cortazzo. “It’s 10 minutes to Santa Monica, so you can stay close to business while enjoying the relaxed Malibu lifestyle.”

Also found on the home’s main level is a professional chef’s kitchen outfitted with a large center island with a sink and seating, high-end appliances, a breakfast bar, granite countertops and custom cabinetry; a duo of offices; staff accommodations with a bath; and access to both a single-car and a two-car garage with a half-bath. A side door, meanwhile, opens to an outdoor shower and steps down to the beach.

A carpeted central stairway with clerestory lighting leads to the second floor showcased by dual master suites—one with a fireplace and sitting area, built-in bookshelves, a kitchenette, an enormous ocean-view picture window, and a spa-like bath boasting dual closets, vanities and water closets, and a double-entry shower decorated with etched glass; and the other featuring deep coffered ceilings and doors that open to a private ocean-view deck.

The home also offers plentiful storage, including a custom cabinet for silver storage, and a basement equipment room that includes a generator and electrical equipment.

“It’s a very rare opportunity to find an oceanfront property with this much square footage on such a wide lot, with elegant décor and so close to the city,” says Joyce Rey. “It’s truly designed for the celebrity lifestyle.”
