Lust-worthy amenities mix with strokes of designer genius to create an exceptional dwelling that is akin to a luxury hotel.

The designers behind this custom-built home—a pair of sophisticated and well-traveled homeowners, who also just happen to own an online luxury home-furnishings business—spent two years creating bespoke furniture and sourcing special pieces to outfit their gorgeous English-style manor.

Fast-forward to today, and the one-of-a-kind dwelling at 116 S. Carmelina Ave. in Brentwood is a veritable treasure trove of creative tweaks that resonate with the couple’s refined style, from curtain hardware fashioned from plumbing pipes to evoke a streamlined, industrial-chic look to a master retreat that resembles a modern hotel suite, complete with a full mini-bar.

“The owners have been in the design industry for over 20 years, and they conceived, built and furnished the home,” says Cindy Ambuehl of Compass, who is listing the property for $7.25 million. “It was a true labor of love, requiring numerous hours working with the various contractors to get the finishes and details just right. Once the house was completed in 2017, the furnishings were chosen, and in some cases, custom-made to fit the rooms to complement the spaces and architectural details.”

Embarking on their passionate journey to bring a specific design narrative to life—that of a home that honors the past, while embracing the needs of a modern lifestyle—the homeowners crafted an authentic residence that reflects a well-lived life.

Think 7,000-plus square feet of light-filled living space on two levels rife with unrivaled attention to detail, outstanding quality and custom finishes encompassing Herringbone French oak flooring, Pennsylvania Bluestone pavers, designer lighting, an understated white, gray and black palette suitable for artwork and, in keeping with the contemporary theme, smart-home technology.

Among the highlights of the six-bedroom, the eight-bath abode is a gourmet kitchen appointed with high-end appliances (including a Lacanche French range, Sub-Zero refrigerator, and dual Bosch dishwashers), custom cabinetry, Dornbracht faucets, an oversized island, a breakfast banquette, and adjacent butler’s pantry, as well as a sumptuous master suite boasting the aforementioned mini-bar, a fireplace, custom closets (with watch and jewelry drawers, and a makeup/vanity area), lavish spa-like bath and private terrace. A speakeasy-style basement, meanwhile, is replete with a full bar displaying cabinetry made from salvaged wood; a climate-controlled wine cellar with room for 300-plus bottles; gym; massage room; and a movie theater.

“There’s a unique combination of urban conveniences, small-town charm and sophisticated design here,” says one of the homeowners. “We are just minutes from the many shops and restaurants in Brentwood, and Santa Monica and Beverly Hills are also close-by. You can also take a stroll through the tree-lined streets and cul-de-sacs of Carmelina and feel the quiet charm of a small town, or you can stay home and feel like you’re at a luxury hotel, complete with all the amenities and designer touches.”

Also enticing is the magnificent grounds, complete with an outdoor dining room and barbecue area equipped with a large, built-in Lynx grill with rotisserie, refrigerator, sink and fireplace that overlooks a yard with drought-tolerant landscaping, joined by an allée of ornamental pear trees that leads to a pool with a spa and waterfall.
