Harbour Outdoor Brings New Martyn Lawrence Bullard Outdoor Furniture Collection

For a New Collaboration With Australian Brand Harbour 1976, Acclaimed Los Angeles-based Designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard Creates Eight Outdoor Furniture Pieces

Comfort is at the heart of everything Martyn Lawrence Bullard does, whether designing a whole space or creating a single piece of furniture.

“You need to feel that you want to sit down and relax,” he says.

Available since May 2019, the collection comprises eight bespoke pieces including dining, lounge and pool chairs, as well as dining, side and coffee tables. Initially imagined for outdoor use, the line is also perfectly suited for interiors. One of the designer’s objectives was to create a collection that could decorate a backyard or a terrace as if these spaces were a living room.

Influenced by Bullard’s travels, the Martyn Lawrence Bullard Collection also reflects the savoir-faire of Harbour 1976, a family company, launched in Sydney some 43 years ago by Jim Condos, and now run by his sons Harrison and Nicholas.

Premium materials such as chipped marble, travertine, Olefin fabric and the brand’s signature Indonesian Grade A teak (in natural and charcoal) were used in these timeless, traditional meets modern pieces. All the furniture produced by the Australian brand is “built to withstand a variety of climates and made with beautiful but durable materials,” say Harrison and Nicholas.

For the brothers, “Martyn’s design sensibility is refined yet always livable”—one of the reasons why the Martyn Lawrence Bullard Collection is so appealing.

Taking cues from mid-century Swiss architect Willy Guhl’s aesthetic, the Martyn Lawrence Bullard easy chair is made with Olefin fabric, a material resistant to water, mold and ultraviolet light.

Another example is the Martyn Lawrence Bullard sun lounge with a seat covered in Ferrari Batyline, a breathable, mesh outdoor fabric and finished with Indonesian Grade A teak. Adorned with brass accents, the MLB dining table is particularly chic, while the Martyn Lawrence Bullard Root coffee table is an ode to nature.

“This collection has been inspired by my favorite modern interiors, pieces and travels, and brings a truly fresh aesthetic to the outdoor furnishings category,” Bullard says.

“The aesthetic paired with Harbour 1976’s remarkable quality and exquisite attention to detail has made this partnership an ideal match, and was a project of great passion for me.”

Ranging from $795-$1,995, all pieces from the Martyn Lawrence Bullard Collection are available online and in Harbour 1976’s Los Angeles showroom (3240 Helms Ave. in Culver City).
