Former Donald Trump Home Hits the Market

Former Trump Home Hits the Market

Donald Trump and the president of the West African nation of Gabon have both called this gated Beverly Hills mansion at 806 N. Rodeo Drive home. Now the residence is back on the market for $29.995 million, offering a rare chance to own a property on this iconic stretch of road; it’s only the second time in the past 15 years a home has been up for sale in the 800 block, just minutes from The Beverly Hills Hotel. Looking much like a replica of the White House, the 11-bedroom, 13-bath home has since been updated and expanded by the current owner (a world-renown developer) in collaboration with longtime Beverly Hills architect Yassi Gabbay.

Built to be stylish, yet durable and family friendly, the residence features almost 15,000 square feet of living space. Quality finishes and features abound—including azul Bahia granite from Brazil, Thassos marble from Greece and Italian crystal chandeliers (one that can be raised and lowered electronically). Meanwhile, other high-tech features include a custom-paneled elevator, a wood-paneled den/study with its own HVAC system (for cigar smoking), an en suite nursery with an air-purification system, and state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems.

“When you look at the features of 806, everything is so comfortable, livable and understated, while the technology behind that feeling is impeccable,” says Yvette Pozzato, co-listing agent with Paul Margolis, both of Compass Realty. “It’s very efficient; the owner chose all of the materials and systems for comfortable simplicity and usability—to have great wear, to be durable and easy to maintain, and for a family to live in.”

Yet other outstanding features include a separate wet spice kitchen for Asian cooking; a cedar-lined sauna; and a large lot featuring a zero-entry pool with jetted fountains and an adjoining spa in Bisazza glass tile, and a regulation-sized basketball/tennis court.

Seaside Penthouse Sells

Emmy award-winning journalist, speaker and author Reba Merrill has sold her Marina del Rey penthouse atop the Marina City Club for $1.5 million. Josh Flagg and Barbra Stover of Rodeo Realty represented Merrill in the sale of the two-level corner unit, which features more than 3,000 square feet of contemporary living space—including a sparkling Lucite spiral staircase and floor-to-ceiling glass walls offering impressive city views. The four-bedroom, three-bath residence also boasts a custom chef’s kitchen; a living room that opens to one of two balconies; and access to upscale amenities such as an executive gym, three pools, six tennis courts, a restaurant, car wash, and 24-hour guard-gated security.

Flying off the Market in Manhattan Beach

Seattle Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll has handed off his vacation cottage in Manhattan Beach to a new owner for $2.05 million, just over the $1.999 million asking price. Listed by Jaime Davern of Manhattan Pacific Realty, the two-story property is situated off a quiet alley at 129 15th Place, just four houses from the Strand and three blocks to the center of downtown.

Built in 1930, the 1,200-square-foot residence has two bedrooms (including a master suite with French doors leading to an enclosed brick patio), two baths, a living room, kitchen and breakfast nook, and office space.

Comedian’s Casa

Actor, comedian and show host Joel McHale and his wife, Sarah Williams, have placed their Los Feliz home on the market for $2.395 million. Situated at 5619 Park Oak Place—at the top of a flat cul-de-sac—the 1940s Traditional has been fully renovated by L.A. designer Elizabeth Gordon, complete with a bright orange front door sporting a large center dial doorknob.

Inside, almost 3,500 square feet of living space encompasses four bedrooms (including a calming master suite with cool-toned wallpaper, a vintage gold glass chandelier and layered drapery); five baths; a stunning two-story entry with a dramatic staircase; a formal living room bathed in natural light; a formal dining room; and a chef’s kitchen with professional appliances. Outdoors, the blue stone patios and fireplace are ideal for entertaining, while a private gated entrance links to Griffith Park’s hiking trails.

“The outdoor living space is breathtaking, especially at dusk,” says listing agent Carrie Berkman Lewis of Partners Trust. “With the fireplace roaring and the ambient landscape lighting, it’s the most relaxing and inviting aspect of the home. The peace and fauna of the park juxtaposed with the well-designed al-fresco living and dining spaces creates a setting for the perfect evening.”
