After working on several remodeling projects together during the past few years—including their own home—local Realtor Mia Trudeau and Janik Roskovani of JR Builders (and Mia Trudeau’s fiance) found that most of the flooring and tile showrooms they frequented offered neither a relaxed atmosphere or ample product expertise.
That’s when the pair (with Mia Trudeau’s eye and passion for design, and Janik Roskovani’s wealth of pricing and luxury remodeling know-how) decided to open Plank & Stone, a one-stop-shop where designers, builders, and developers (as well as first-time homeowners and remodelers) can gather to plan and design their projects—whether that be remodeling or building a residential or commercial project—with an expert’s guidance every step of the way.
“We are so passionate about design and remodeling,” says Mia Trudeau.
“My background in real estate sales of 16 years with Hilton & Hyland, and Janik’s passion for building with 20 years of experience, makes us a build ‘dream’ team. I have held many clients’ hands in the redevelopment of major projects across L.A. and abroad, as well as several of my own properties, and Janik specializes in luxury home remodeling and commercial build-outs, as well as flooring and tile installation. So, we decided to team up on a ‘we-work’ type of atmosphere where our clients can get everything in one place.”
Set to open at the end of June at 729 North La Brea Ave., the Plank & Stone showroom will feature two conference rooms where customers can plan their projects, along with walls and cabinets chocked full of samples that can be used in their projects.
Think flooring, porcelain, stone, wood, tiles, and more, in an array of colors and finishes, from top vendors including Villagio, Legno Bastone, Duchateau, Arizona Tile, SapienStone, and Florim, just to name a few. A member of Plank & Stone’s team will be available to assist with pricing and selecting products, while the new company also will offer clients the opportunity to complete their projects with JR Builders.
“First you have to have a dream, then you must execute that and make a plan, and the most important part is the actual building of the project,” Mia Trudeau says. “This is what most of our clients are afraid of, and many don’t know where to begin; we help them make it right from the start.”
Coming up: the pair plan to open an off-shoot of their showroom in Malibu or Studio City.
