How did you get started in real estate?

Jesse Weinberg: I started in real estate in 2004. I have always been very driven and I am an entrepreneur at heart, so the real estate business was very attractive to me. I transitioned from a restaurant operations role to selling properties for my clients after I realized that I was more passionate about homes than restaurants.

How is your educational background an advantage in real estate?

Jesse Weinberg: Education has given me a foundation to build upon; however, I think my greatest growth has come from the hard work ethic that I’ve had since I was a kid, which was instilled in me by my grandfather. I’ve been working since I was 15 years old, in jobs ranging from a snowboard instructor to retail and food service. When I was 20, I took an entry-level position in the food industry, and within three years I had worked my way up to manager of the store, making me the company’s youngest manager in the region.

What, specifically, makes you so passionate about the industry?

Jesse Weinberg: This business is so multifaceted that it’s difficult to pinpoint just one thing that inspires me. I love architecture and design, but I also enjoy negotiating on my clients’ behalf and working with them to sell their homes. I can honestly say that I love what I do, and I’m excited to go to work every day.

What are your firm’s main areas of expertise?

Jesse Weinberg: We specialize in high-end condo sales on the Westside of Los Angeles. In fact, we’ve sold more condos on the Westside than any other agent in the last five years.

What distinguishes your firm from others in the same market?

Jesse Weinberg: There is a knowledge base in real estate that can only be built through experience. Each transaction is unique, and every sale teaches you something new about the business. Our team manages around 80 sales a year and about the same number of residential leases. This large volume has given us a wealth of experience that other agents in our market may not possess.

What factors contribute to your competitive edge when it comes to navigating the local market?

Jesse Weinberg: In addition to the team’s sales experience, I work very closely with developers in the Marina, Venice, Santa Monica, Playa del Rey and Playa Vista areas. The experience has given me a great understanding of value in those areas and has allowed me to view real estate from both sides of the transaction. I spend a great deal of my time analyzing the market to determine where my clients can find value in new properties and maximize value in their existing homes.

What makes the Marina Del Ray market so covetable?

Jesse Weinberg: Marina presents a unique lifestyle that takes advantage of all the incredible benefits of the Westside, weather, proximity to the beaches and ocean, and accessibility to a beautiful luxury harbor—the largest man-made small craft harbor in the world. We’re convenient to just about everything, a short bike to Venice Beach and Playa Del Rey, minutes to LAX, and continued development has brought us great restaurants, shops and nightlife. It truly is the best L.A. has to offer.

What attributes have contributed to your success?

Jesse Weinberg: I love real estate, and I am also a very analytical person. The combination of those two traits drives me to excel. I meticulously analyze and research the market so I can confidently and zealously advocate on my client’s behalf.

You refer to excellent client care as the foundation of business. How do you ensure all your client’s interests are best represented?

Jesse Weinberg: My clients are incredibly important to me. Without them, I obviously would
not be in the position I am today. I make sure my team and I do everything possible to ensure the entire transaction is a smooth and comfortable process. I take my job very seriously and want each and every client to be happy. Real estate is a referral-based business, and making sure each person you have the privilege of working with is pleased is crucial to becoming a successful real estate agent.

Jesse Weinberg: Locally, we obviously have a very robust real estate market, and things had been heavily in the seller’s favor as buyers contended with developers and all-cash buyers in bidding wars. In 2015 we’ve seen prices continue to rise, but more slowly than in previous years. As this market balances out we’ll see the “buying frenzy” fade, giving more opportunity for homebuyers and sellers looking to trade up. In Marina especially, we’ve seen rents continue to rise as many millennials form new households near Silicon Beach.
